The Foundling At beginning of the story, Antonio Piachi and his son travel to the townsfolk of Ragusa. Since there is a plague in the town, Piachi and Paolo attempt to revert home. On their way back, they be stopped on the runway by a unsalted boy (Nicolo) who says he is torment from the plague. Nicolo grasps Piachis hand and kisses it. Piachis first thought is to shove him off, merely feels pity for the boy when he f completelys unconscious. The police follow down after Piachi and arrest him when they find Nicolo in his possession. Piachi, Paolo, and Nicolo are all taken back to Ragusa. The Nicolo recovers, but Paolo becomes sick and dies. Nicolo takes Paolos invest and the Piachi brings him back home. Piachi and his wife, Elvira, raise the Nicolo as their own. As the boy gets sexagenarianer, Piachi teaches Nicolo his melodic line and Nicolo takes over as a clerk.
